Pillar 6: THE PATH

[153:1] "The kundalini is the power of consciousness itself,

[153:2] coiled at the base of the spine, waiting to awaken."

[153:3] --- Traditional yogic teaching
[153:4] "I am come to send fire on the earth;

[153:5] and what will I, if it be already kindled?"

[153:6] --- Luke 12:49
[153:7] "The serpent power, when awakened, rises through the
centers*

[153:8] and unites Shakti with Shiva at the crown."

[153:9] --- Tantric teaching

[153:10] [153:1] Kundalini is the coiled serpent of

consciousness-energy at the base of the spine.

[153:11] [153:2] In yogic anatomy, a vast reservoir of latent

energy lies dormant in most people---coiled like a sleeping serpent at

the root chakra (muladhara). This is kundalini, often depicted as a

goddess serpent, three and a half times coiled, blocking the entrance to

the central channel (sushumna) through which higher states are accessed.

[153:12] [153:3] The awakening of kundalini is the energetic

dimension of enlightenment. As the serpent uncoils and rises, it pierces

each chakra in turn---sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye,

crown---activating latent capacities, clearing blockages, producing

experiences that range from blissful to terrifying. The rising is the

Snake of Gate 92, now understood as a transformative process.

[153:13] [153:4] Kundalini awakening can occur

spontaneously---through trauma, near-death experience, intense devotion,

or apparent accident---or it can be cultivated through practices:

pranayama (breath control), asana (postures), bandhas (locks), mudras

(seals), mantra, and visualization. The traditions recommend

preparation: if the channels are blocked, the rising energy can cause

harm.

[153:14] [FIGURE 153.1: The caduceus---two serpents intertwined

around a central staff, topped by wings. Caption: "The caduceus as

symbol of kundalini: ida and pingala around the sushumna."] [153:5]

Symptoms of kundalini awakening include: sensations of heat or

electricity along the spine; involuntary movements or postures; visions,

lights, sounds not externally present; emotional upheavals as suppressed

material releases; altered states of consciousness; profound insights

alternating with confusion.

[153:15] [153:6] The goal of kundalini is not the experiences it

produces but the union it accomplishes. When the serpent reaches the

crown, Shakti (the goddess of energy) unites with Shiva (the god of pure

consciousness). This union is samadhi---the non-dual state where

perceiver and perceived merge. The experiences along the way are side

effects, not destinations.

[153:16] [153:7] Kundalini can be dangerous if forced. The

energy is real; premature or unguided awakening can produce

psychological disturbance, physical illness, and spiritual emergency.

This is why traditional yogic systems embed kundalini practices within

comprehensive ethical, physical, and psychological preparation. The

serpent should be invited, not provoked.

[153:17] [153:8] In the OOMNI model, kundalini is the

concentration and acceleration of the Snake's ascent. Normally, sensory

information rises gradually through the levels; in kundalini awakening,

the entire process intensifies, producing rapid transformation. The

seven levels (Gate 90) become vividly experiential rather than merely

theoretical.

[153:18] [153:9] Not everyone needs explicit kundalini

awakening. For many, the energy rises gradually through natural

maturation, spiritual practice, and life experience. What matters is not

the drama of the process but its result: the integration of body and

spirit, the union of ascending and descending currents, the completion

of the circuit.

[153:19] [153:10] "I am come to send fire on the earth." The

Christ-fire, the serpent-fire, the fire of transformation---all point to

the same mystery: energy that rises from matter to meet spirit,

completing the circuit that creation opened, returning the many to the

One through the very body that made manyness possible.
